BCB Environmental performance statistics

The Waste Hierarchy is defined in the Waste Framework Directive and is an EEC formulated approach to optimising environmental performance. Based on Best Environmental Option, optimal performance is achieved by moving waste management to the top of the tree.

Attainment of environmental objectives as a requirement of any environmental management system (EMAS, ISO14001, IPPC) requires year on year improvements against the hierarchy. BCB has an active policy to improve its hierarchical performance year on year. The following charts demonstrate the improving statistics and also reflect the changing picture nationally. NB. BCB as a waste management company only gets involved mid-hierarchy (ie. recycling) although we are keen to assist all waste producers with technical advice in the field on how prevention, minimisation and re-use may be improved.
